Alan Hansen told United that 'you can't win nothing with kids'. And then we proved that we could - the Golden Era of Scholes, the Neville Brothers, Nicky Butt, Giggsy, and Becks won the League that season.
But having watched the game against Wolves in the week, and then also the game against Spurs this evening, I'm not so sure that's possible again.
Hansen was certainly right - providing those kids don't have any big game experience. Now, of course, that comes through playing small game experience, and building up your reputation, but our defensive issues are obviously not just in the senior team. Jonny Evans still makes awful mistakes, as do Rafael and Fabio. And our attacking options in the reserve squad look a bit poor too - Obertan didn't seem to have any flair, Bebe, our £7.4m waste, looks to have a good perception of the ball, but no respect for his teammates, Macheda could have been a one-trick pony. The only two who actually do look like they could do something are Chicharito and Darron Gibson, both of whom are making their first-team breakthroughs this season.
It's difficult to tell, obviously, based on those two performances by themselves, but without significant investment on players who are young enough to help those players come through, then United certainly can't be looking to win titles.

The Glazer Hatred
Originally posted on Day Dedication
This small, annoying, obnoxious little American dwarf owns Manchester United Football Club. He also owns the Tampa Bay Bucaneers. He is someone who many wish dead, and many people wish had never even thought about sport. But alas, we're lumbered with him and his family now. Today is for Malcolm Glazer.
Now I don't like Malcolm Glazer. There's aren't many people I actually hate in this world, but here is one. He comes in, spends £800m of someone else's money on MY football club, puts all that debt against the club, screws us over big time, turns us from most profitable club in world to the one in the most debt, and then is happy to let that stumble on, as he is debtless.
When football is something drilled into you from birth, and you are taught one way - the United way - then you'll understand why everyone is extremely pissed off with him. He has done nothing good for our club, only bad.
But with the whole Rooney debacle finally coming to a close this afternoon, with him signing a new deal, he effectively stuck two fingers up at Malcolm. With Fergie blaming Rooney in his press conference on Tuesday, and Wayne blaming the Glazers and their 'lack of ambition' within the club on Wednesday, the fans now have no-one to blame for all these issues but the small ginger pricks. Don't get me wrong, the Glazers aren't people who are intentionally trying to kill off the club, but they're doing it sub-consciously.
So, the campaign begins again, with Wayne AND David Beckham on side. The Green and Gold campaign was effective last season, but it needs to be even more so today, and from now on, to force them to sell. The Red Knights are the best thing that could possibly happen to our club right now, so we need to back them, and show Malcolm and his offspring that they are not welcome in Manchester. Ever again.

A Little Intro
As you can tell from the title, I am a Man United fan. A member of the 330 million people across the globe who are. The biggest football club in the world. We had shares, then the Glazers stepped in, and now we don't. That's how big a group of fans we are.
Oh, I forgot to say hello! I'm Adam Mills, a Tweeter, a blogger, an obsessed United fan, and a a wannabee sports journalist for the Beeb. I write a couple of blogs - Day Dedication, where I give my day to someone, and My Food Revolution, my take on Jamie Oliver's own Food Revolution.
So I'll be blogging about United, football in general, and to be honest, most sports-related things. But all because I'm gonna do things The United Way.
