You Can't Win Nothing With Kids

Alan Hansen told United that 'you can't win nothing with kids'. And then we proved that we could - the Golden Era of Scholes, the Neville Brothers, Nicky Butt, Giggsy, and Becks won the League that season.

But having watched the game against Wolves in the week, and then also the game against Spurs this evening, I'm not so sure that's possible again.

Hansen was certainly right - providing those kids don't have any big game experience. Now, of course, that comes through playing small game experience, and building up your reputation, but our defensive issues are obviously not just in the senior team. Jonny Evans still makes awful mistakes, as do Rafael and Fabio. And our attacking options in the reserve squad look a bit poor too - Obertan didn't seem to have any flair, Bebe, our £7.4m waste, looks to have a good perception of the ball, but no respect for his teammates, Macheda could have been a one-trick pony. The only two who actually do look like they could do something are Chicharito and Darron Gibson, both of whom are making their first-team breakthroughs this season.

It's difficult to tell, obviously, based on those two performances by themselves, but without significant investment on players who are young enough to help those players come through, then United certainly can't be looking to win titles.
